Just for the heck of it I Googled 'Carrot Love' and number one is actually a Flickr pic similar to yours. (Yours is better).

You have a crazy neighbor. It's crazy but I'd almost pay to see that lol

Hi Rudy! Thanks for dropping by. I don't eat enough carrots (I prefer broccoli). Maybe if I got a juicer I'd eat more carrots (and would see things better too). Or maybe my sight problems are just a part of getting old... :) ~ Steve

hey Will,
Thanks for helping me out!
That Victor Harpoon is one diabolical looking trap. Looks like it would make a mole-kabob. :)
I'll have to consider it. ~ Steve

Steve - You say you may have moles? I have had some success killing them with the Victor Harpoon. Link below.

Thanks Steve. But I do see now that you are not on the latest version of WP. Bad boy! lol.

The fact that dirt is being pushed into your trap tells you they are there, active, and catchable. What type of trap are you using? I will take a photo of my trap in the ground so you can see how I have it set. I caught another last night.

@Will,
Since I posted this, I have done some searching on the internet, and have found out my carrot love art is not quite as unique as I thought. I wish I had stayed blissfully ignorant to that fact.
I like your idea of mixing seed and sand before sowing.
I caught more dirt last night. I may have to try the propane...
As to the comment policy, your idea seems reasonable to me (and not at all "too drastic"). I figure when someone leaves keywords what they really want is a link. In that case, they have to EARN it.
Ajax is on my "to do" list. In the mean time, I think I fixed your first comment. ~ Steve

Steve - Ajax edit comments plugin, please! ;-) I seem incapable of putting up a typo free comment on the first try.

If you are on the latest version of WordPress, you can install it in one click right from your plugin panel.

I don't even care if I kill a gopher. I HAVE to try the propane method. Anything that involves an explosion is worth a try!

I used to get carrots like that every year. It was because the seed is so small I would get several seeds right together by accident when sowing. Then they would grow together and look like one plant and get missed when thinning. I now either plant carrots using seed tape, (expensive) or I mix the seed with sand and then sow sand and all. Seems to work well and require less thinning.

Back to gophers, I have had lots of trouble in the past with dirt being pushed into the traps. The one that was stolen by a coyote or whatever worked that first night, so I decided to replace it. I set if last night and caught one. I put a board over the hole with a rock on it to discourage the carnivorous thieves. The brand is the Victor Black Box.

Finally as a follow up to our spam posts, here is what I am thinking. I get some 1st time comments that are not all that bad, though not that good either, but that link to a site that is directly selling something more legit than pills, porn, or miracle diets. Boots, dolls, books, stuff like that. I have just started delinking them. If someone is leaving several good comments, I can see letting them have the free link to their store. But if they are only putting up the bare minimum to get the link, I'll break the link. They can advertise if they really want to. What do you think? Too drastic?
