I was going to give you credit for recommending King Corn when I got around to writing about it, but it looks like you beat me to it. I’ll still give you credit when I do a post on it.
I like Billy Bob (he’s a good actor), so I’ll have to add The Astronaut Farmer to our Netflix list. You’re 1 for 1 on the recommendation front so far… ~ Steve

Nice review. I had never heard of this movie and the title would probably not have led me to think about seeing it. King Corn is a good film that I wrote about here:

I watched The Astronaut Farmer last night. Much better than I expected. Quirky, and great acting by Billy Bob Thorton and the two young girls who play his daughters.

I’ll have to see this movie when I can get it here. I like everything I’ve seen Simon Pegg star in.

I wonder if he’ll be as good in the upcoming Star Trek movie where he plays Scotty.

hey Tim,
I think I have a mini custom beer belly which I just can’t shake. I like our local Firestone beer too much (really hoppy). I’m amazed you lost 40 pounds with all that free Blue Beaver beer available. Perhaps you should write a post on how you did it. I survived working at Baskin Robbins (ice cream) for two summers as a teenager, but my metabolism just ain’t what it used to be, and I shudder to think what would happen if I worked there now.

Well, I did read RT’s post quite some time ago, and I did lose the beer belly. Maybe this means I should locate a copy of this movie, since you make such a good case for it.
You are right about low to no expectations. I was very disappointed with the 2nd Fantastic Four movie, and I really had high hopes for that one. Iron Man was really good for the first half but like you said finished just so so. Still above average in the special effects department though.
