The benefits of social networking cannot be overemphasized. StumbleUpon is by far the best and it’s easy. I don’t spend a lot of time randomly stumbling articles, but when I do find something I like and want to pass it along to others, I give it a thumbs up. Simple and easy. Not only that, but I oftentimes Tweet the link on Twitter.

It’s called Give to Get.

Or as Steve would say, Karma.

@Will2, I understand. We have friends with a teenage softball star. Their family life revolves around her practices/games/tournaments during the season. It’s all good, and well worth it, and I expect it is a lot of fun. As an aside, I’ve been warned what to expect during the “teenage years” in general, plus I’ve got my own memories.
@Mirjam, Thanks for the help. Regarding your recommendations on social marketing, I’m going to recommend a cage match between you and Tim below, and I’ll do whatever the winner says. PS. Good karma is flowing to you…

Hi Steve,
If you are pressed for time, like me, I can completely understand NOT signing up for any of these time wasting networks. Yeah, they can bring you traffic. You have to participate to get it though. I just don’t have time to ’stumble’ around, or network, and so I have this useless stumble bar occupying valuable firefox toolbar real estate and haven’t used it for months.
However, I will go and stumble this one for you.

Gotta say, I agree with Lin, creating the accounts really doesn´t take up that much time, so you can easily stumble, digg etc if you ever come across an interesting article like the one you mentioned.

I can completely understand your point though, socializing can take up a lot of time, but digging the occasional interesting article really doesn´t if you have the toolbar installed. Just a matter of some self control

Oh and Steve, if you think your Saturdays are full now, just wait and see what happens if she becomes an athlete like my daughter. The traveling competitive teams take up your whole weekend and a LOT of your money! She plays soccer many weekends in the larger cities 5 hours north of here around Portland. Her basketball team usually stays closer to home, within about 3 hours, but occasionally goes down to California to get better competition. Your fun is just beginning!
